The Burning Metaphor

One of my favorite Elton John songs is called “Candle in the Wind” – by Elton John.

Most of us sing along for the melody, but how many of us have looked deeply at the rooted meaning of that candle?

Could “We” be that candle in the wind? Each and every one of us are composed of the physical- mental – emotional and spiritual bodies. The grounding point for us that holds us here on earth is called a “vessel” the container that holds our spirit. When we look at a candle, it as well is held in what is known as a “vessel” – that vessels body is wax, the wick is the working mind and offers up what we can see as a beautiful flame of the spirit of the candle. Of course, candles come in varying shapes and sizes, some fragrant and some not. Some candles are simple with just a scent, and then you have those full of glistening decoration. Same with each and every human. None of us are the same! We are each unique in our own varying ways.

BUT……

There is one thing that remains in both, the light within. Light is incredibly powerful and gives each and every one of us the ability to see. Without Light we would be in the dark, and today there are many people who still are trying to find their flame. With that said, the light that is inside of you was not meant to be hidden, it is there to help illuminate one another’s paths when they are in the dark.

Light (your inner flame), is also powerful it has the ability when it flickers to “Ignite” what is around it. Same with each and every one of us. When we show compassionate actions towards ourselves and others, kindness, and love – we then have the ability to Ignite the flame of those around us.

You see, a candle melted down implies it was a life well lived, and when unused it shows the potential to still give that light. So, as the candle while we have the ability to still give light, I encourage each and every one of us to help Ignite those on a daily basis with our actions.

As you light your Intention candle placed before you, I hope you see it now with a special meaning. A new light, one that allows you to put upon it - “Energy” – the energy of thought.

Secondly, I would like you to set an “Intention” – what is it you would like to see? Third “Hope”, hope is active and something you can give. Then light this candle with the feeling of Love.

There was much love and care put into the hand making of this candle set before you. When you have completely burned the candle and it has given to you the meaning you put into it, then you now have new crystals that hold the meaning stored within to keep as a reminder.

I will always hold tight to my favorite quote – “Being a candle is not easy, in order to give light, one must burn first”.
